From Guilt to Confidence: Changing Your Money Mindset

We see it all the time – lots of spending, followed by lots of guilt. Our goal is to change that. Let’s put it on paper, so you can spend purposefully and know everything is being funded as you want. Flip the script from “I’m afraid I won’t have enough money” to “Look how much I have for everything I need.” That anxiety and impulse spending will start to fade away.

Are You Ready for a Financial Makeover?

  • Make good money but have nothing to show for it?
  • Tired of living paycheck to paycheck?
  • Dreaming big about your financial future but unsure how to get there?
  • Want to be debt-free without sacrificing your favorite treats?

Guess what? It’s okay if you don’t know how to budget yet or if you’re relying on credit cards to get by. It’s also okay if you want to seem like you have it all together or if you and your spouse aren’t on the same page about finances. We’re Shana and Vanessa, best friends and master financial coaches trained by Dave Ramsey. Since 2019, we’ve helped hundreds of amazing people create budgets, get out of debt, and stop living paycheck to paycheck.

Common Challenges Women Face with Finances

Women often feel overwhelmed with finances, especially when unexpected expenses for kids come up. From new hockey skates to prom photos, it’s easy to feel like you’re constantly overspending. We help you organize your spending, plan for those yearly, monthly, and even quarterly expenses, and ensure everything is budgeted for. This way, you can fund your life and still enjoy the things that matter to you. 💁‍♀️

Customizing Budgets for Women and Couples

We often start with the woman, but soon, couples come on board. It’s not about who’s the spender or saver – it’s about finding a balance that works for both. Our approach is all about creating a budget that reflects your unique values and priorities, allowing you to pay off debt, save, invest, and still enjoy life.

Shifting the Money Mindset

Many women, especially moms and businesswomen, struggle with investing in themselves. They feel guilty spending money on personal development or self-care. But when you budget for it and see the results, that guilt turns into permission-permission to spend. Seeing your money grow and knowing you have funds set aside for your priorities and “unexpected” expenses is a game-changer.

Investing in Yourself

Investing in yourself looks different for everyone. Whether it’s personal development, physical well-being, or professional growth, it’s crucial to define what’s important to you and budget for it. When you value yourself and your goals, you show up differently, and more opportunities come your way.

Making Financial Planning Less Intimidating

We work with women who are successful and smart but feel shame about needing help with finances. Remember, you didn’t learn everything overnight – it’s okay to seek help. We specialize in simplifying your financial life, setting up systems and automations to make managing money as hands-off as possible. You deserve to feel confident and in control of your finances.

9 Things You Can Do Right Now To Improve Your Financial Wellness:

  1. Identify Your Financial Values:
    • Determine what’s most important to you financially (e.g., family vacations, personal development) and prioritize those in your budget.
  2. Start A List Of All Your Expenses:
    • As the year goes on, keep a list of all your regular expenses, including annual, quarterly, and monthly costs. This includes things like kids’ activities, medical bills, and personal care. You might not remember them all up front, but once you get a list for a year, very little will surprise you or your budget.
  3. Set Up Financial Goals:
    • Define clear, specific financial goals you want to achieve in the short and long term. This could be paying off debt, saving for a home, or building an emergency fund. Think in terms of 1 year, 5 years and x years where x=retirement.
  4. Create a Budget:
    • Establish a budget that includes all your income, debts, bills, spending and savings.
  5. Include Personal Spending Money in Your Budget:
    • Make sure to plan a portion of your budget for personal spending to cover items like haircuts, clothing, or hobbies.
  6. Create Separate Accounts for Different Categories:
    • Use multiple checking / savings accounts like budgeting envelopes to set aside money for different purposes, like groceries, gas, vacations, emergencies, and personal care.
  7. Automate Your Finances:
    • Set up automatic transfers to your spending accounts and savings buckets to ensure you’re consistently putting money aside each month. Make sure all of your debt/bill payments are on auto pay.
  8. Schedule Regular Budget Meetings:
    • Have regular budget meetings with your spouse or partner to review your finances and ensure you’re both on the same page.
  9. Shift Your Mindset About Money:
    • Work on changing your mindset from scarcity to abundance. Recognize that it’s okay to spend money on yourself and that saving and budgeting are tools to help you achieve your goals.
